How to calculate Day of any Date with easy codes

In this blog, I will show the trick to calculate the Day of any Date with easy codes. If you learn carefully you can also calculate the Day of any Date in your mind.

Remember these codes, because these are very important and these codes only will help us to find the Day of any Date.


Now let us take an example so that you can understand perfectly.

Example 1: What is the Day of 15th August 1947?

Ans: To solve this problem follow these steps.

Step 1: First, write the given data in this form.




If we write the given data we will get like this.


Step 2: After writing like that now let us solve for the Day on 15th August 1947. Draw boxes like this.


Step 3: After writing like this write '15' in the place of '(Date)' and write the August month code as '3' in the place of '(Month Code)'. Then write Century Code as '0' in the place of '(Century Code)'. Then write the Year as 47 in the place of '(Year)'.

Then Add the Number of Completed Leap Years also. For the given data if we divide 47 by 4 we will get 11 completed leap years. If you add all these numbers you will get like this. We are dividing the Year by 4 because a leap year occurs every 4 years. 


Step 4: Now Divide 76 by 7 because in a week 7 days will be there.

If we divide 76 by 7 we will get the remainder 6.

If we recall the Day code if you get the remainder 6, it is Friday.

Step 5: We should conclude our answer. So, On 15th August 1947, it is Friday.

Don't forget to read this.

NOTE: You can apply this formula for any month except Any Date in January and February month. Of course, we can apply this formula but we will get the day wrong. Now I'm going to say about this problem.

Example 2: What is the Day on 8th February 2020?

Ans: Follow the same method.

Step 1: Add Date (8), Month Code(4), Century Code(6), Year(20), and No. of Completed Leap Years(4).

Step 2: Divide 42 by 7 because in a week 7 days will be there.

If we divide 42 with 7 we will get the remainder 0.

Recall the Day Code.

If we get the remainder of 0 it is Saturday.

On 8 February 2020, it is Saturday.

For any Leap year, you must write the number of leap years as 4 for January and February Month whereas 5 for Any Month except January and February.
